Final votes counted in Victorian seat of McEwen today (ABC) - ( 4U5TR4L14 )

The final count for the federal seat of should be known today.

There are still up to 1,000 votes to count in the central Victorian seat, where the incumbent, Labor’s Rob Mitchell, is leading the Coalition’s Donna Petrovich by 342 votes.

Mr Mitchell says the last couple of weeks have been a “roller-coaster ride” and now he is anxious for a result.

But he is not prepared to claim the seat just yet.

“I went through this in 2007. I guess I have a bit of experience in this and I’m just waiting until the AEC (Australian Electoral Commission) make their final decision,” he said.

He says he has heard the message to Labor loud and clear.

“If all goes well, I can get re-elected, get out there and make sure the Government delivers on the promises and keep representing the community of McEwan.”
