A man has been charged with murder following the death of a woman in the Newcastle suburb of Hamilton South.
Newcastle detectives discovered the body of a woman, believed to be aged in her 50s, at a unit block on Fowler Street about 5pm (AEST) on Thursday, after receiving information.
A 43-year-old man was arrested at the unit and taken to Newcastle Police Station where he has since been charged with murder.
The Hamilton South man will appear at Newcastle Local Court on Friday.
Inquiries are continuing into the woman’s identity.
