NSW pilot dies in Vic training exercise (AAP) - ( 4U5TR4L14 )

A 20-year-old man died when his plane crashed on a rural property in western Victoria during a training exercise.

The single engine aircraft crashed on a private farm, six kilometres from Hamilton Airport, about 200km west of Melbourne, just before 8pm (AEST) on Monday, police said.

The pilot in training, believed to be from New South Wales, died on impact, they said.

Police will assist the Australian Transport Safety Bureau in investigating the circumstances of the crash.
