NRL player Sandor Earl says “he wouldn’t call himself a drug cheat” and insists he was assured he would not get in trouble for taking peptides.

Earl has admitted to the use and trafficking of CJC-1295, a banned substance that triggers the release of growth hormone.

In an interview with the Nine Network, Earl said sports scientist Stephen Dank assured him he would not get in trouble for taking the substance, saying Dank had used CJC-1295 at other clubs.

Earl says Dank took him to the Essendon club to meet coaching staff, including James Hird.

“It was quite full on. I went in there in, a round table-type setting, and met the whole coaching staff. I couldn’t rule out a person I didn’t meet,” he said.

“Dank told me that he was employed there for a supplement program and that he had full reign, and he seemed to be enjoying it quite a lot.”

Earl says Dank had supplied the vials of the banned substance, and no money had exchanged hands when he “picked up” the vials on Dank’s behalf.

Earl denies reports that other NRL players have been interviewed by ASADA in relation to peptide use because of what he told the anti-doping authority.

Following the interview going to air on Channel Nine’s The Footy Show, Earl took to Twitter to thank his supporters.

Really appreciate all the comments again not chasing sympathy just to be judged on facts!! Hoping to move on and forward now!! Thanku evry1
